50% done, but 1-week delay.

Cycle4 was supposed to start today (Thursday), but it’s been postponed to next week.

Here’s why.  I was feeling stressed.  The side effects from the 3^rd cycle were more abundant and prominent versus the previous cycles.  I wasn’t ready to do this again.  On Monday, I was on a low carb / high protein diet in preparation for a PET/CT scan the next day.  I was feeling under the weather – achy, feverish, and slow.  Maybe I was a little hungry too.  I pulled out of playing volleyball at the last minute.  Tuesday felt better, but I was still tired.  After the PET/CT scan, I satisfied my hunger by visiting Happy Hound.  In the afternoon, I took my new boyfriend out for a test ride (see photo).  Still, I wasn’t energized nor feeling the positive vibe.

On Wednesday, I discussed this with my doctor, and we agreed that a little more time to recover would be a good idea.  While this felt like failure or a set back to the original plan, Dr. Cabebe assured me we are on the right path.  Preliminarily, the scan results looked good.  YAY!  And, to address the side effects in the next cycle, we’ll split the IV treatment over 2 days (to isolate and identify which drug I’m reacting to), and I’ll be taking a steroid before starting the cycle to help reduce the inflammation I experienced last time.

All-in-all, it’s a delay, but a good one.  It feels like I’m on the right track with the chemo. The additional time will be used to recover, re-charge, and be ready to hit-the-ground-running next week!
