“Best.Christmas.Present.Ever”

That quote was from my boss, and I couldn’t agree more.  My PET/CT scan results came back with the conclusion of “positive response to therapy without evidence of new or recurrent disease”.  What a relief!

That’s the good news, and I don’t want to spoil it.  Yet, it’s not quite nirvana.  I need to continue some of the chemotherapy, as a preventative measure.  I was hoping that I’d be off medications, but the reality of the situation is finally setting in.  Had this been stage1 or stage2 cancer, it’s possible that I wouldn’t need to continue medication.  But, because this is stage4, we need to be proactive about managing any recurrence.  Therefore, I’m going to continue the chemotherapy, with 2 of the 3 medications, for the next couple of months or year(s).  The drug that I can stop taking, oxaliplatin, is the worse one.  This means I can start working towards recovery, recuperation, regaining my energy, and focusing on getting my life back.

I can finally smile.  Happy New Year, everyone!
