Cycle one is complete! So far, so good. I’ve been lucky. The side effects were minimal and I’m still feeling strong. Going into the chemo cycles, a former cancer patient recommended I line up activities during my “off-drug” week so I have something to look forward to. I’m happy to say I’ve done this. I spent Saturday and Sunday with my family and in the last 4 days, I have:
On Monday –
Hiked up Mission Peak with Patrick, Suzanne, and Jenny Lynn; didn’t make it to the top … it was too hot!
Baked chocolate chip cookies; probably needs more sugar
Picked veggies and had dinner at Patrick’s with the hiking crew; increased my supply of cucumbers, tomatoes, and tomatillos
Tuesday -
Ice hockey practice with my nephew; he’s getting better, but he’s not as good as his ego and attitude (yet)
Taco Tuesday dinner at my sister’s; well, she’s never heard of “Taco Tuesday”, but we had tacos on Tuesday
Wednesday -
Created a spreadsheet to track my medical expenses; this was fun and informative, plus, it felt good using excel (one of the simple pleasures in life!)
Lunch and shopping with Kit, got my Lululemon fix
Hung out for an afternoon with Donna, and watched Cyxx put everything reachable in her mouth … the joys of an energetic 2-year-old
Made dinner with Nelson, using the tomatillos picked from Patrick’s garden (see Monday, bullet #3)
Thursday -
Coffee with Shari, good times!
Lunch and hiking with Magali; we hiked in a secret spot off Old La Honda (never noticed this area when riding up that road!)
Blood test in preparation for the 2nd chemo cycle
Hand-made pasta dinner with Lynne; first time making pasta for me, but not the last
It’s been an action packed week; I’m energized from hanging out with so many wonderful people! Round two starts on Friday (the 7th). Here I come!
