I am almost done with my last cycle!  More specifically, I’m on week2, day5 of the 3 week cycle.  I get a PET/CT scan done at the end of this week, and then I’ll meet with my doctor between Christmas and New Years to review the results and determine the next steps.

For now, I’m still taking things one-day-at-a-time.  I don’t like taking the pills, things are still tasting metallic, and I’m hypersensitive to the cold.  Hmm, I could actually list more annoying side effects, but I don’t want to be a whiner!  After all, life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

Growing up, one of the best things my parents did for me was enroll me in a summer school typing class when I was in 6th grade.  I think they wanted me to be a competent secretary.  Back then, that would have been a good career for a girl!  As part of the “secretarial” ambition, I used to sit at the receptionist’s desk at my Dad’s office when I visited on the weekends.  It was here that I read a quote that has influenced me in all aspects of life.  As curves are thrown my way, this is the quote that grounds me …

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes. - Charles R. Swindoll, an American pastor, author, and educator

I’m actually looking forward to the next steps.  More to come, in 2 weeks.  Happy Holidays to everyone!

Swindoll's comments will definitely help reinforce the truth. Best wishes throughout the holidays to you and yours!
