Sometimes I feel like an exhibit at the zoo…

I started cycle2, week2 last Friday (Sep14).  As of today, I’m doing well.  I wish I could have said that for the first week of this cycle.  I started the cycle staying at home, but by the evening of Day2 (Saturday, Sep8), I wasn’t feeling well and went to my sister’s, the “recovery ward”.  I slept for 3 days straight!  By Wednesday I was feeling better and moved back home.  During my sleep-a-thon, I realized that I’m no different from a zoo animal.  Here’s why:

  • At my sister’s, I have a king size bed in the master bedroom.  This bedroom is my animal pen, where I eat, sleep, and do other things.

  • The “zookeeper” (Alan, my brother-in-law, and the “master of the house”) checks in daily to ensure the animal is comfortable.  He ensures the animal has everything she needs.

  • The “animal keeper” (Kathleen, my sister) feeds me and cares for me.  She prepares special meals and makes sure the animal stays hydrated.

  • Sometimes the other animals (my nieces and nephew) come in to play with me.

  • When visitors come, they want to look and observe the animal.  Some visitors tease the animal with food.  Other visitors (my parents) are more aggressive with their visit. They want to know if the animal has been sleeping and what the animal is eating.  They are extremely disappointed when they come to visit and the animal is not in her cage! They want to know where the animal has gone, what the animal is doing, and when they can come back to see the animal!  They will go to the zookeeper and animal-keeper with suggestions on how to care for the animal, and they get upset when their instructions are not followed.

All joking aside, I’m doing well.  I get tired easily, so I’ve cut back on a lot of activities.  I’m continuing to focus on eating better and more consistently, resting, and spending time with friends.  Hopefully the rest of week2 will go well, and I can plan some fun activities for my “off-drug” week.

hovo: just substitute "animal" with "Meowmi"

Lauriemeowmikehl: Yes, the Meowmi exhibit. I think I saw an episode on Mutual of Omeha's Wild Kingdom once of the Meowmi and how she loves to run and play on large moveable red balls...

discobern: when is the animal at her own den so I can pay a visit during feeding time?
